She Makes Me Want To Cry

This song was written in about 2007, I think, sitting outside a cafe, next door to the radio 1 building in London.

My friend had described a situation he was in, and wanted to get out of, but wasn’t able to. It seems to be popular when I play it acoustically and has the distinction of making my eldest daughter cringe, as someone once found a youtube version I had done for a friend to cheer them up, and put it on in her maths class at school 🙂

Here are the lyrics:

She Makes Me Want to Cry

Did she really look at me like that?
Did she really shake her tail like that?
And those emails, ah those emails!
She coming on?

Did she open wide her big blue eyes?
Did she fix me with those beautiful eyes?
And when I looked back
I think I saw her her smile, smile, smile . . .

Why can’t I see what lies before me?
Why does it feel like I am falling?
Why does she make me want to cry?
Why does she make me want to cry, cry, cry?

Did she really say those things she did?
Does she want to do those things that she hints?
Ah Lord the tension, the anticipation . . .
She’s coming on!

Did I really think I stood a chance
When I whispered to her “Shall we dance?”
But the warmth that was in her body
It made me smile, smile, smile.

Why does she make me want to cry?
Why does she make me want to cry, cry, cry?

Why did I have to just take the plunge and dive right in?
‘Cause now it just feels like I can’t swim . . .

Did she really look at me like that?
Did she really shake her tail like that?
And those emails, ah those emails!
She coming on, on, on?

Why can’t I see what lies before me?
Why does it feel like I am falling?
Why does she make me want to cry?
Why does she make me want to cry, cry, cry?
hy does she make me want to cry?
Why does she make me want to cry, cry, cry?
