Know that I’m thinking of you

This is a song from 2008 (I think) with a real (and deliberate) early 80’s feel. Lots of basic synth sounds, drum machine and even a bass solo. There is a fair bit of guitar too – some nice powerchords under the chorus and some more delicate figures too in the instrumental. Also single line distorted to sound a bit like a tuned hairdryer! as well as other little figures, especially during the third verse.

The mix could (as always) be better – I don’t make the bass present enough in its solo. I like the character of the vocal recording.

Here are the lyrics:

Know that I’m thinking of you

Know that I miss you every day
Know that that I’m thinking of you night and day
Every time that I close my eyes
Know that I see you in my mind

Know that I’m dying for your touch
Your smile, your eyes, they mean so much
Each time that I try to forget
You come like an avalanche through my head

When I close my eyes you’re still there
When I close my eyes you’re still there

Know that I’m thinking of you
Know that I’m thinking of you
I’ve always been thinking of you
Forever I’m thinking of you

I need so much to help you through
Though there’s nothing I can do
Whenever I ask “what’s to do?”
All I see is you and you and you

[Instrumental]

When I close my eyes you’re still there
When I close my eyes you’re still there

Know that I’m thinking of you
Know that I’m thinking of you
I’ve always been thinking of you
Forever I’m thinking of you
